The 2023 harvest is almost in the books now, as we are scheduled to pick our last remaining vineyard on Wednesday — the Cabernet Sauvignon on Toni’s block of our Conn Valley ranch. I love this photo that Lizzie took this weekend, standing in Toni’s block, and looking north with the ÂME vineyard in the background. We pick entirely by hand, and the grapes are placed in these one-half-ton white picking bins for transport to the winery. The structure in the center of the photo is a wind machine that we use to protect vines from frost in the spring. We also used it twice this fall after a light rainfall, in order to dry off the leaves and clusters.
