In a report from Vin Chicago, one of the Midwest’s most important fine wine stores, Mike Baker and his colleagues lead off with a great review of the 2014 Left Bank Red from Neyers Vineyards. Here’s what they had to say:
2014 Neyers “Left Bank” Red Napa Valley, California
‘A few weeks ago, our Naperville store held its first annual Cabernet tasting. There were many delicious standouts, led by the surprise hit of the night – Neyers “Left Bank” Cabernet/Merlot blend. This seductive, delicious wine blew away our guests, against wines two, three or even four times the price!
Bruce and Barbara Neyers make this wine from sustainably farmed Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes grown on their property in Napa’s Conn Valley, just south of Howell Mountain. Lush and silky with a hint of Bordeaux elegance and structure, the wine offers beautiful blackberry, plum and black cherry fruit flavors which are all enhanced with a splash in a decanter. Coffee, vanilla, light toast and cocoa notes are perfectly integrated into the deftly nuanced palate.
Neyers always works oak into his wines beautifully. This is the first vintage for “Left Bank” and it is an exceptional effort!
On our scale this earns a resounding 92+ points. It’s that good. Only 1500 cases produced. Our supply is limited, so don’t wait!’
Don’t wait indeed. Don’t miss out on our 2014 Left Bank Red.
