"A dark ruby hue is accompanied by chunky black cherry fruit, pepper, herb and chocolate notes" 88-90 Points

- The Wine Advocate, Robert Parker
December 2006

2005 Syrah Hudson Vineyards

The Syrah crop from Lee Hudson's old Carneros District vines was also smaller than normal in 2005, largely due to problems with both frost and berry set during the damp spring. In a growing season more European than Californian, the French-styled pedigree of Ehren Jordan's winemaking emerges. Here we can see the spice, white pepper and sweetness that are more frequently associated with Côte-Rôtie. The wine has been soft and agreeable almost from the beginning, and, based upon the similarities it has with earlier vintages like 1994 and 1996, we expect it to enjoy a long and impressive life.
